In memory of
Ruth Ann Staggs
Staggs, Ruth Ann 3/11/1942 - 3/11/2017 With her family at her side and surrounded by love, Ruth Ann passed into the loving embrace of the arms of our gracious God the morning of March 11, 2017, on her 75th birthday. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at 11:00am on Monday, March 27 at Chilson Hills Church, in Howell, Michigan. Ruth Ann, known as "Rue-ie" by her mother and father, was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on March 11, 1942. She was preceded in death by her father Leo E. Apple, her mother Margaret C. (Visel) Apple, her son Raymond Rutledge, her sister Helen Laraway, her cousin Vivian Madden, her niece Sharon Wilson, and her nephew Mark Murphy. Ruth Ann is survived by her husband Gerald Leon Staggs. Ruth Ann and Gerald (known by most as "Leon") were married in 1965 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from where they moved with their family to Pinckney, Michigan in 1972. Ruth Ann is survived by her children: Kimberly Hughes (Kerry Hollon), John Staggs, Krissy Metcalf (Alan), her grandchildren: Raymond, Matthew (Shannon), Sommer, David, Sydney, Katie, Hannah, Addison, Dakota, her sisters: Delores Kinnison and Carolyn Murphy (Kenny), three great-grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews--all of whom she deeply loved and treasured! From Ruth Ann's standpoint, family is EVERYTHING...and everything is FAMILY! A 'caregiver' by nature, and by profession, Ruth Ann shared her gift of compassion by caring for her elderly residents in her Adult Foster Care Home for 37 years. And while her profession is a reflection of this care-giving nature, who she is, she dedicated her whole life to her family, giving and loving generously! This of course includes the friends she embraced as family. Living life to the fullest, with a genuinely contagious joy, it is no wonder that Ruth Ann is known by her grandchildren as "the fun Grandma." She loved going to car shows, dancing her heart out, especially with her husband. She loved planning parties and family gatherings of all sorts. She loved Christmas, birthdays, and holidays in general. She loved her involvement with the church's group for persons with disabilities. Simply put, she is full of LOVE! Ruth Ann was 'the life of the party,' because Ruth Ann loved life, because Ruth Ann loved people! She will be remembered for her laughter, for the twinkle in her beautiful brown eyes, and for the joy she inspired in those who knew and loved her! Above all, Ruth Ann loves her family, and she loves her God! We know that the gathering in Heaven, on the day of her birth, has been/is/and continues to be the eternal family party/reunion, the Holiday par excellence! ...and in typical Ruth Ann/Mom/Grandma style, she is holding a table for her loved ones on the dance floor of heaven! Memorial contributions are asked to the Chilson Hills Church.
