Joan J. Cumberland
Joan J. Anderson Cumberland, 77, of Butler passed away Monday at the Grove Manor Nursing Home. She was born May 6, 1939, in Butler, to the late Richard E. Anderson and the late Blanche E. Fair Anderson. Mrs. Cumberland worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block & Goeppner Tax Service, as a reimbursement specialist for Olsten/Acreedo and as a department store clerk for Boscov's. She was an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora and the Unionville VFD. Mrs. Cumberland enjoyed bowling and playing cards. She is survived by her son, Scott E. Cumberland of Butler; three sisters, Scherri Grazier of Butler, Patricia Ifft of West Sunbury and Virginia Hockenberry and her husband, Rodney, of Grove City; and one granddaughter, Paige Cumberland of Portersville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall E. Cumberland, who she married May 16, 1960, and who died Nov. 30, 2005; one brother, Richard A. Anderson; and two sisters, Marjorie Held and Annabelle Hoover. The family would like to thank Grove Manor for sharing the compassion, ministry and providential care of Christ.
