John (Jack) Prislupski
John (Jack) Prislupski, 85, of Taylor and a resident of Gino J. Merli Veterans Center for the past few years, died Sunday, March 12, 2017, in Moses Taylor Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Madelyn Fedor, and together they have celebrated 61 years of marriage. Born in Taylor, he was the son of the late Michael and Ilona Gaidula Prislupski. Jack proudly served our country during the Korean War with the U.S. Navy on the USS Missouri, where he was decorated with the National Defense Service medal. Prior to retirement, he worked for Topps Manufacturing for many years, where he was known as "Teddy Bear." He was a life parishioner of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Taylor. Throughout the years, he enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and watching the History Channel. Considered the "family taxi," Jack's favorite past time was transporting the people he loved and teaching his children and grandchildren how to drive. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mary Hronich and husband, Jim, Taylor; a son, Michael and wife, Jennifer, Laflin; two granddaughters, Chantal and Alana Hronich; a brother, Ron and wife, Linda, the Villages, Fla.; nieces and nephews. A granddaughter, Stacy Hronich, preceded him in death. A private blessing services will be held from Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St. Taylor, by the Rev. Eduard Shestak. Interment with military honors will be held in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Taylor. Memorial contributions may be made to Gino J. Merli Veterans Center Activities Fund, 410 Penn Ave., Scranton.
