Lucy Melinda Leigh "Linda" Fichtner
May 16, 1945 - March 14, 2017 Lucy Melinda (Linda) Leigh Fichtner, born May 16, 1945, in Fredericksburg, Texas, passed away on March 14, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. She is survived by her husband Murray, daughter Mindy Griggs, son Chip and his wife Candy, grandchildren Haleigh and Caroline Griggs and Luke and Cade Fichtner, brother Bill Leigh and wife Karen, sister Nancy Warren and husband Gary, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Margaret Leigh. Linda graduated from Westbury High School in Houston, Texas, in 1963, and attended Texas Christian University. She and Murray were married on June 27, 1964, in Houston, Texas and soon after were stationed in Germany from 1965 to 1967. Upon returning, they settled in Alamo Heights where she devoted herself to raising and supporting her children. Linda was active in the Junior League of San Antonio, serving as head waitress at the Bright Shawl for several years and later in leadership positions with the annual Rummage Sale. She was also active in the Battle of Flowers Association. She enjoyed playing tennis at McFarlain Tennis Center, dancing at Town Club parties, and spending time at their property in Blanco, on which she had used her artistic talents designing the stained glass and tile treatments for their second home. As part of a family full of Aggies, she was an avid fan, enjoying football games and reunions with Murray's Aggie buddies throughout her life. The family would like to thank the staff of Colonial Gardens for their loving care over the past two years. GRAVESIDE SERVICE FRIDAY, MARCH 17, 2017 11:00 A.M. MISSION BURIAL PARK SOUTH 1700 S.E.
