He was the youngest child born to Raymond and Wilhelmina Duckworth. Norm joined his two older brothers, William and Kenneth. Norman attended Berkeley schools and graduated from CSU, Sacramento with a degree in Elementary Education. As a dedicated professional, he taught for 22 years in the King City Union School District where he was a highly valued teacher and colleague. He loved, and was loved by his many students over the years, and derived great satisfaction from his teaching career. For two years, as a young man, Norman was an active member of the Naval Reserve. This experience was extremely important to him. Serving his country was both a privilege and an honor. After his retirement, Norman volunteered for the Monterey Historical Society. He loved history in all forms, and relished this work with enthusiasm and joy. Norm had a life-long love of literature, and was intrigued by all forms of trivia.
