In memory of
Ireland, John John Ireland passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 12, 2017. Married for 53 years, he is survived by his wife, Myrna, and his two sons, John Jr. and Jim, and grandchildren. He was 83 years old. He was born in Northern Ireland, on February 19, 1933. The oldest of four brothers, he arrived in North America in 1959. In a great example of the "American Dream," he stayed for the rest of his life. After stints in Toronto, Seattle, Texas, and Los Angeles, he spent the last 46 years living in Corona del Mar. A successful salesman, he worked until he was 70. His passions included St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, travel, a large group of loyal friends, soccer, and last but not least, golf. His love of golf took him all over the world, and kept him busy at the Newport Beach Country Club for most of his life. Anybody who ever played with him was sure to get a day full of stories about life, Ireland, or his sportscaster son--all spoken with his trademark Irish brogue. He was extremely grateful for all that he had, and often thanked God for his wonderful life. A celebration of John's life will be held Saturday, 2/18, at Saint Michael and All Angels at 3:00 PM, followed by an on-site reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St. Michael and All Angels.
