In memory of
Evo Cipriani, 89, of Peckville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, while a resident at Mid Valley Health Care Center. He leaves a wife of nearly 40 years, Claire Cipriani. Evo was born in Peckville, on March 1, 1927, and was the son of the late Judith and Joseph Cipriani. He was a 1944 graduate of Blakely High School and upon graduation enlisted in the Navy, finishing first in his class in the Signal Corps. He was transferred to Washington state, handling communications in the Pacific theater during World War II. He was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville, and a mainstay tenor in the church choir for decades. Evo was self-employed for many years, most notably as one of the founding salesmen of Mineo's Pies, directly responsible for its growth in several markets over the years. Additionally, he was a very active musician, accomplished saxophone player and was active in many bands, including big bands in the area. He was a man of strong faith and a daily communicant. He will be greatly missed. Also surviving are a daughter, Judith M. Cipriani, Scranton, and Laguna Beach, Calif.; and a son, Attorney Gerard J. Cipriani and wife, Louise, Pittsburgh; grandsons, Jim and wife, Laurel, Nashville, Tenn.; Justin and wife, Lauren, Pittsburgh; Christian and wife, Danielle, Miami, Fla.; and Jarred, Pittsburgh; and granddaughter, Isabella Rose, Laguna Beach, Calif. He also leaves behind four great-grandsons, Dean, Jack, Dylan and Marco Evo. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Jude Anthony; and a brother, Brother Victor, of the Oblates of St. Joseph. A special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Mid Valley Health Care Center, especially Gina, Kathy, Olivia, Barbara, Rene, Mary, Marie, Chris, John, Walter John, Debbie, Marlene and Rachael for their kindness and compassion and for always going above and beyond with their care for Evo. The funeral will be Monday from the James M. Margotta Funeral Home, 1019 Main St., Peckville, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville. Interment, St. Francis Cemetery, Eynon.
