HELTON, Rex K. Age 79 of Hanover Township passed away peacefully with his beloved wife Betty at his side on Wednesday February 15, 2017. He was born July 17, 1937 in Kettle Island, Kentucky the son of the late Roy and Minnie (Philpot) Helton. Mr. Helton was a 1956 graduate of Hamilton High School and worked as an inspector at Continental Can Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1988. On September 7, 1963 he married Betty Browning. Mr. Helton enjoyed bass fishing especially at his winter home at Lake Okeechobee, Florida with his devoted son Kenneth Helton, who preceded him in death in 2013. He was an avid fan of Kentucky Wildcats basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. He was fond of bluegrass gospel and banjo music. Mr. Helton's most enjoyable times were watching his grandson Evan's sporting events. He is survived by his wife Betty Helton; his grandson Evan L. Helton, and a special cousin John Ed Philpot. He was also preceded in death by his siblings June Thacker, Joanne Lewis, and Jimmy Helton. Visitation at THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 3080 Homeward Way at Rt. 4, Fairfield on Saturday February 18, 2017 from 12:30 PM until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 PM, with Rev. Vernon Hartman, officiating. Burial to follow in Millville Cemetery.
