MARIAN IRENE CECIL, 91, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017. Born Nov. 2, 1925, she grew up in Fort Wayne and graduated from Central High School as well as attended Art School in Fort Wayne. Marian was an amazing artist and spent her entire life drawing beautiful portraits. She married the late Edwin Cecil in 1946. They traveled the world together, living in Germany, Venezuela, the Philippines, Aruba, and Yugoslavia, where they adopted their son, the late Goran Cecil, in 1962. After Edwin's untimely death in Germany in 1967, Marian and Goran moved back to Fort Wayne. In addition to working on her art, Marian was employed by the St. Joe Veterinary Hospital and Shoaff Park Golf Course. Marian "loved" the outdoors, all animals and creatures, big and small. She enjoyed golf, gardening, listening to classical music and watching old movies. She is survived by a niece; and many great nieces and great nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Howard Demsey. A private ceremony will be held at a later date at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorial donations may be made to Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control.
