Johnson McCarting (John) Burdge
Burdge, Johnson (John) McCarting Johnson McCarting Burdge, IV (John) passed into his heavenly journey on February 11, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Maryjane Cass Burdge, his two sons, Jason M. Burdge (Tenasha Taylor) of Milwaukee; and Christopher D. Burdge (Jessica), and three grandchildren, Samuel, Tyler John (T.J.) and Emily Burdge; of Lakeville, MN; his uncle, Randolph Hopf of Wales, WI; his parents in law Thomas and Lydia Cass of Yarmouth Port, MA, ,brother in law, David Cass (Karen Saunders) of Manchester, CT. and his faithful dogs, Buster and Sophie. Additionally, countless loved ones remember him that he maintained contact with around the world. His first wife and mother of his children, Nancy Burdge, Johnson M. Burdge, III (Jack), and Dorothy Burdge, his parents, predeceased him. John was an elementary teacher in the Wauwatosa Public Schools for 31 years impacting the lives of hundreds of children. He is remembered for his sense of humor, enthusiasm for the learning of his students, and for being a teacher with a great heart. As a lifelong Packer fan, John was at the Ice Bowl in 1967. John was also active in churches where he lived, including Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, WI; United Presbyterian Church in Superior, WI; and Pioneer Parish, in the Douglas County, WI area. John is remembered by family and friends as kind to all, ready to listen, and gentle in spirit. In summing up his time on this earth, 2nd Timothy 4:7 comes to mind: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at United Presbyterian Church in Superior, WI at 11 am, with visitation at 10 am, and all are invited to a luncheon afterwards. A memorial service will also be held at Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, WI on Tuesday, February 21 at 2 PM, in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that a donation to one of John's favorite charities be made including The Salvation Army, Telling the Truth Ministries, Carroll University, the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, or a charity of your choosing.
