Roy, Angeline C. MECHANICVILLE Mrs. Angeline C. Roy, 89, died on Wednesday evening, February 15, 2017, after a brief illness in the loving company of her family. A lifelong resident of Mechanicville, born on September 27, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Dominik and Christine LaVigna Parente. Angie graduated as the salutatorian of the Mechanicville High School, class of 1945. At age 14, she began working as a bookkeeper for Golden Drugs Card and Gift Shop. She continued to work for the Golden Family for over 50 years. Her hobbies included cooking for her family and friends, especially her Friday night pizzas, her prized pizzelle, biscotti and homemade cavatelli. She was also an avid reader and loved to play bocce. Angie was a faithful communicant of Assumption-St. Paul Church, and a former member of the Catholic Daughters and Junior Dante Club. Angie always greeted people with a smile and had a kind word for all. Angie's husband, her children and their families were the joy of her life. Angie was sadly predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Henry "Hank" Roy; also by her son-in-law, Denis G. Young; and brothers-in-law, Sid Baker and Angelo Friello. Survivors include her children, Robert (Anelia) of Malta, James (Mary Beth) of Mechanicville, John (Yolanda) of Ballston Spa, Janet Roy Young of Rexford and Michael (Meaghan) of Wilbraham, Mass. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind sisters, Catherine Friello and Mary Baker along with nieces, nephews and their families. Calling hours will be Saturday, February 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Devito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S. Main St., Mechanicville, followed by a funeral service and entombment in St. Paul's Mausoleum.
