In memory of
Marlene Antoinette Nelson
Marlene Antoinette (Pisoni) Nelson “Together Again” age 81, of Alliance, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, after a two-year courageous battle with cancer and diabetes. She was born April 8, 1935 in Cadogan, Pa., to Leno O. Pisoni and Mary J. Zambron Pisoni. She was a 1953 Alliance High School graduate and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. Marlene also served in the United States Air Force in 1954. While serving, she was a member of The Tops in Blue, which showcased talents at air bases around the world. Most notably her singing talent earned her the opportunity to perform on the Ed Sullivan Show. Marlene enjoyed life to its fullest, having the extraordinary ability to bring joy and laughter to all. Her positive attitude and unique way of looking at things was certainly admired. She achieved many wonderful things and her family was her utmost pride and joy. She proved in her final two years that: to challenge adversity you must face it head on, and smile when it seems most impossible. Survived by five children, Robert (Joni) Nelson of Louisville, Jerry (Christine) Nelson of Marlboro, Lori (Pete) Pagnucco of Hermosa Beach, Calif., John Nelson of Salem and Steve (Stacy) Nelson of Alliance; six grandchildren, Casey (Richard) Halter, Kirsten (James) Garvey, Rachel Nelson, Molly Nelson, Zach Nelson and Landon Nelson; three great-grandchildren, Pierce Halter, Connor and Evan Garvey; one brother, Jerry Pisoni of Sebring; three sisters, Carole Pisoni of Alliance, Eileen (Timothy) Sanders of Georgia, and Marcia Hooper of Alliance. Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, of nearly 60 years, Robert G. Nelson; her parents, Leno O. Pisoni and Mary J. (Zambron) Pisoni; her sister, Annette Pisoni; and her brother-in-law, Richard Hooper. Special thanks to Dr. Manisha Shah and all the staff at “The James” in Columbus and the visiting staff of All Caring Hospice. Thank you to all who gave their love and support.
