Nancy Kay Crawford
Nancy Kay Crawford January 11,1949 - February 12, 2017 Visalia Nancy Kay (Ashford) Crawford passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 12, 2017. She had turned 68 last month. She was born January 11, 1949, and lived her entire life in Visalia CA. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy Luther [d. 3-7-1995] & Helen Louise [d. 1-26-2016] (Rice) Ashford and her late grandparents Dewey & Grace (Noland) Ashford and Clarence & Nora May (Weitner) Rice. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Danny, daughter Brandi (Crawford) & Dominic Ross of Tulare CA, and son Shane & Jenny Crawford of Visalia, and her grandchildren Emma Rose Crawford & Dalton Jerald Ross. Nancy is also survived by her sister Linda (Ashford) & Darel Scoggin of Cathey's Valley CA, sister Kathy (Ashford) & Gary Haskin of Escalon CA; nieces Debra (Scoggin) & Jeff Hansen, Susan (Scoggin) Enay-Billups & Bill Billups, Jr.; grandnieces Jennifer Hansen, Olivia Hansen, & AJ Hansen; and grandnephews Joseph Enay & Bradley Enay. Nancy attended several Visalia schools and graduated from Redwood High, Class of 1967. She attended and graduated with a license from a beauty college, and worked as a hairdresser for some time. Later, she worked part-time as a Layout Operator for Josten's, Inc. This is where she met her future husband, Danny, who still works there. She worked there for 36 years and retired in November 2007. In her younger years, Nancy delved into several different handicrafts & loved making gifts for family. She & Danny assisted part-time in her cousins' barbecue catering business occasionally. They also found they liked going to local garage & yard sales & flea markets together. Both became collectors ...each in their own interests. Nancy's favorite was her hummingbirds and bells. Nancy was raised and married in the original Visalia Court St. Church of Christ. She loved God & all his gifts of flora and fauna on this earth, but especially her six animal pets...4-legged and winged alike. She was always such a positive person and was known not to ever complain. When Nancy was a young girl, her Grandma Rice (who lived in the same home) once said "You don't know she's even sick until she's almost at death's door." But life threw her many challenges. She was born with a cleft palate & harelip, which did not allow her to suck. So, she was fed her milk with a 1 oz. jigger glass & she took to it right away. Then she endured seven surgeries at the Children's Hospital in San Francisco by the time she was 11 yrs. old. Seven years ago she lost a breast to cancer & in late 2016, she began to have breathing problems, and was told the cancer was back & through-out her body. Even then, she didn't complain. She was definitely one of God's chosen children. She dearly loved her family, and they her. know her was to love her. A memorial service is to be held Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia CA.
