In memory of
Roy E. Thayer
Port Angeles resident Roy E. Thayer died of lung cancer at the age of 88. Born in Potlatch, Idaho, to Elmore and Thelma (Sittkus) Thayer-Taylor, Roy went into the Marine Corps in 1943 and served 13 years and finished with seven years as a civil service worker at Keyport Naval Station as a guard. Roy was taken out of the dregs and hell of alcohol by the miracles that our living Lord Jesus Christ continues to perform even to this day, and it was by his grace alone that my life was so changed. He was a cook, farmer, fisherman, lay minister and hunter. He and Marylan moved to Port Angeles in September of 1996 after being a snowbird for seven years. He was a member of Joyce Bible Church for the last 20 years. Roy is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marylan; two sons John (Neitha) Thayer and Michael (Camille) Sebring; three daughters Jeannine Lutge, Candes (Robert) Parke and Mary (Robert) Brisson; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather and two stepchildren, Robert Hughes and Kathleen Hughes. Services will be held Saturday, February 18, at 2 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Greg Reynolds of Joyce Bible Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Joyce Bible Church, 50470 state Highway 112, for landscaping around the church.
