Vernon C. Potter
Vernon Carl Potter, 86, of Richmond and formerly of Concord, Massachusetts, passed away on February 12, 2017. He was born in Wichita, Kansas to the late Nellie Garrison and Wayne L. Potter. Vern graduated Missouri School of Mines with a degree in metallurgical engineering and worked in the field of powder metallurgy throughout his career. While living in Concord he was an active member of the Concord Minute Men. Vern was a loyal donor to the American Red Cross blood banks for over 40 years, After retiring and moving to Richmond, Vern and his wife traveled extensively and enjoyed time with their grandchildren. Vern served as treasurer of the 5400 club at the Weinstein JCC. Vern is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret H. Potter; daughter Jeanine Potter Derr and her husband Phaon B. Derr, III of Chevy Chase, MD; daughter Ann Potter and her husband Tom Janus of King George, Virginia; and grandchildren: Rebecca Derr, Phaon B. Derr, IV, Susannah Derr, Eliza Janus, and Anna Janus. A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Bliley's Funeral Home in Richmond, VA.
