Marilyn L. (Sonney) Thompson
Marilyn L. (Sonney) Thompson, 77, entered into eternal peace on Friday, January 6, 2017, at home in Trabuco Canyon, Calif. Marilyn was born January 19, 1939 in Wilcox, Pa., a daughter of the late Edwin and Lillian (Barefield) Sonney. She moved to Erie, Pa., at a young age and graduated from Harborcreek High School in 1955. Marilyn married Paul F. Sutton, Jr., and had two daughters, Terri & Laura. She worked at Woolworths 5&10 Store, Paddons and Sherwin Williams. She completed a college course and obtained a degree in Interior Design and Decorating. Later, she married Melvin Thompson and moved to Halfmoon Bay, Calif., and opened her own store called, Marilyn L. Thompson Interior Design & Decorating. After closing her business, she worked for Home Depot and Lowes and retired in 2010. Marilyn was an active member of the Calvary Chapel Rancho Santa Margarita Church in California. She was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart; she loved entertaining and interacting with people, traveling and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Edwin and Lillian Sonney, and ex-husband, Paul F. Sutton, Jr., she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Samuel L. Sonney and Earl R. Sonney. She is survived by Melvin Thompson; her two daughters, Terri (Sutton) Yard, her husband Mark, and their daughter, Nicole (Yard) Hanes of Trubuco Canyon, Calif., and Laura (Sutton) Baker, her husband John of Pittsburgh, Calif., their two sons, Dustin Baker of Pittsburgh, Calif., Brandon Baker, his wife, Jamie and their two children, Joseph and Hosea of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a brother, Gordon Sonney and wife Audrey of Malabar, Fla.; two sisters, Jean Sliker and Marion Scott of Erie, Pa.; and a sister-in-law, Alice Sonney of Erie, Pa. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Sunday, February 19, from 2 to 6 p.m., and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Monday at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. Keith McGarvey. Interment, Lakeside Cemetery.
