Herman Parker Herman Parker, 76, of Las Vegas, Nev., passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2017. Herman was born at his home on December 14, 1940 in East Prairie, Mo., to Samuel Bryles and Evelyn, nee Mayabb, Parker. He attended Cahokia High School and received Bachelors, Masters and Specialist degrees from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Herman enjoyed a long career as a high school auto body teacher, administrator and vocational director with the Cahokia School District. After retiring from Cahokia, he relocated and became the Superintendent of Schools in Peach Springs, Arizona and built the first Hualapi High School. He then enjoyed full retirement in Las Vegas Nevada. Herman had many talents and hobbies. He was most admired for his lifelong love and accomplishments of refurbishing antique automobiles. Herman was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Jerry Shelton Parker. Surviving are his wife, Gladys, nee Munroy, Parker; children, Melanie Parker (Mitchell) Martinez, David (Susan) Parker; grandchildren, Jennifer Parker Wonch, Austin Mitchell Martinez, Jessica Parker, Samantha Parker, McKenzie Parker; great grandchildren, Matthew Wonch and Arthur Wonch; two siblings, Donald Parker and Joyce Foster Parker, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Herman was a mentor and teacher to everyone he knew. He is loved and will be missed by all. Memories and expressions of condolences may be offered at www.valhallagardensandfuneralhome.com . Funeral: A Celebration of Life Service will follow visitation at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Darrell Jones officiating.
