In memory of
Phyllis Woffinden
1924 ~ 2017 Phyllis C. Woffinden, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2017. Phyllis was born on July 11, 1924 in St. Anthony, ID to Clifford Campbell Clive and Mabel Alexandrena Snell. She married Robert Goates Woffinden in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 20, 1945 and raised five children. Robert preceded her in death in 2013. She was a light and wonderful example to her 4 children, her 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Phyllis was a talented musician being very accomplished in playing the violin, piano, and organ. As a young woman, she frequently traveled around the communities of Southeastern Idaho performing with her father, a concert pianist and music professor, as well as accompanying various vocal performers and musicians in church and civic programs. She studied music at Idaho State University in Pocatello, ID and Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Phyllis faithfully served in many callings such as Relief Society President, Young Women President, Primary President, Hostess at the Church Office Building, and most frequently, ward organist. Phyllis is survived by her children Robert C. (Char) Woffinden, Mark C. (Susan) Woffinden, and Kaye C. (Alan) Thorpe. She and husband, Robert, lost a son, Steven, who passed away as a child. The word that best describes her is love. Her most remembered phrase by children and grandchildren is, "Do you know how much I love you?" At one point, Phyllis lovingly attended to the physical and spiritual needs of 24 widows in her housing complex. Per her request, a private memorial service will be held February 17, 2017. The family wishes to express very grateful appreciation to the wonderful caregivers at Sunridge Assisted Living for their loving and compassionate care and attention. For memorial contributions, the family suggests donating to the Alzheimer's Association, Utah Chapter or the American Cancer Association.
