James M. Favor
James M. Favor, 73, of Monroe, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Wellspring Lutheran Home, Monroe. Jim was born March 11, 1943 in Detroit, MI to Elmer and Imelda (Franzen) Favor. On September 11, 1965, he married Louise Mary Castello at St. Mary Catholic Church in Monroe, and she survives. Jim worked as a bus driver for Jefferson Public Schools. He retired in 2001 after 33 1/2 years of service. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964, and was stationed in Germany. He was a longtime member of the Brest Bay Gun Club, and loved playing cards, especially Texas Hold 'Em. He enjoyed singing karaoke with Louise, as well as golfing, fishing and boating. As well as his wife, Jim is also survived by three brothers, David (Jen) Favor of Kansas, Leonard (Billie Jo) Favor of Maybee and Mark (Cathy) Favor of Flat Rock; and five sisters, Madonna McGahan of Kentucky, Margaret Pavlik of Garden City, Laurie Favor of Dundee, Dianne (Leo) LaVoy of Wisconsin and Gaile (Greg) Motylinski of Maybee. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Sister Carol Favor, IHM. Friends are invited to call at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 South Telegraph Road, from 2-6 p.m., on Friday, February 17. Funeral services to honor his life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. Fr. Louis Lapeyer will officiate, and burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery under the Auspices of Monroe VFW Post #1138.
