Mary Hicks
Hicks, Mary, passed away February 9, 2017 at the age of 103. Mary served in the Women's Army Corps as an intelligence specialist from 1943 to 1945, working on the Manhattan Project that ended WWII. As an educator, she taught for six years in Oklahoma and another 26 years in Buena Park and Anaheim schools. She is survived by her children: James Gilbert Hicks, Benjamin Charles Hicks, Janet Lea Starr, Elizabeth Alice Swift, and Mary Ellen Hicks; 22 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband James D. Hicks; brothers Albin, William and John Curtis Monforte; and parents Elizabeth and Gilbert Monforte. A visitation will be held Saturday, February 18 from 6:00-9:00 P.M. at Renaker-Klockgether Mortuary. A church service will be held Sunday the 19th at 2:00 P.M. at Wilshire Avenue Community Church 212 E. Wilshire Ave, Fullerton, CA. 92832. Burial with military honors presented by The United States Army, will take place at 10:00 A.M. on Monday the 20th at Melrose Abbey Memorial Park, 2303 S. Manchester Ave. Anaheim, Ca. 92802.
