Sandra Shafer Evansville, IN Sandra L. Shafer (Barchet), 73 passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. She was born July 26, 1943 to the late Arthur and Helen (Lauer) Barchet. She was a realtor for FC Tucker for 15 years, worked for General Foods for 13 years, J.H. Rudolph for 10 years, Kindell Mining for 5 years and N.F.H. construction for 3 years. Sandra was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, where she was a past Queen and member of the Egyptian Band, Robert Morris Chapter of the Eastern Star, Board House of Bread and Peace, Bethel United Church of Christ, where she was a very active past member of several Boards, and was very active for many years with the Evansville Youth Soccer League. Sandra was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. Sandra is survived by her husband of 54 years, Harold Shafer of Evansville; children, Kimberley Shafer, Robert Shafer (Cindy) both of Evansville; granddaughter, Cassidy Shafer of Evansville; step grandson, Steven Oschman (Jeanette); great-granddaughter, Aubrie Oschman "Tu-tu"; sisters, Eileen Heard of Evansville and Janet Land (Don) of Palm Coast, FL; she also leaves behind all of her beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville. A ceremonial service will be held by the Daughters of the Nile #41 at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Bethel United Church of Christ, 3029 N. Green River Rd., Evansville. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church with Reverend Don Bernhardt and Reverend Raygan Baker officiating. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Browning and the Oncology and Hematology Associates and the staff of Kindred Hospice for their tender care.
