Leonard E. Manus 1928 - 2017 DELAVAN, IL - Leonard E. Manus, 88, of Delavan, passed away at 7:55 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at Hopedale Nursing Home. He was born March 28, 1928, in Emden, to Wesley and Mabel Eyrs Manus. He married Dorothy VanGerpen on May 20, 1956, in Emden, and she passed away Nov. 25, 2008. Surviving are one son, Brandon "Brad" Manus of Arlington, Texas; one daughter, Sally (Duane) Lessen of Delavan; five grandchildren: Courtney (Brandon) Pyle of Georgetown, Texas, Tatyana J. Manus of Grand Prairie, Texas, Jacob (Kaitlyn) Lessen of Peoria, Justine (Curtis) Dion of Athens, and Natalie Lessen of Delavan; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Lessen and Nancy Bammann, both of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marjorie Douglas. Leonard farmed in the Emden, Elmwood, and Delavan areas, retiring in 1996. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Delavan United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee, and a member of Tazewell County Farm Bureau Board. He enjoyed square dancing with his wife, traveling, bus trips, and participated in the Greater Peoria Honor Flight in 2013. His funeral will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at Delavan United Methodist Church. Pastor Gene Ramsey will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, also at the church. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery in rural San Jose. Memorials may be made to: Delavan United Methodist Church Monday Meal Program, or Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy.
