In memory of
James Eric "Jimmy" Johnston
JAMES "JIMMY" ERIC JOHNSTON VALPARAISO, IN James "Jimmy" Eric Johnston, 48, from Valparaiso, Indiana passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 29, 2017 after a long battle with liver disease. Jim was born in Park Ridge, IL, lived in Huntsville, AL until he was 10 years old then grew up in Valparaiso, IN. He attended Culver Military Academy, Valparaiso High School and Ball State University. Jim was a videographer that travelled the globe many times over. He went on world tours with bands such as: Paul McCartney, Billy Joel and Elton John, U2, Madonna and Lady Gaga. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for "Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special" for Paul McCartney Live in Red Square. Jim always said "I see the world differently than other people" and enjoyed taking unique photos, painting, drawing, reading obscure little books, writing and creating all kinds of different artistic expressions. Jim was an avid Chicago Bears, Cubs, Bulls and Blackhawks fan. He loved nothing more than to test your patience and then share the biggest laughs with you later on as you shook your head. His enormous personality, questionable antics, quick wit and bright smile will be so incredibly missed. Jim is survived by his parents: Joseph Johnston and Jeanne (Somka) Johnston; stepmother, Brenda (Fryer) Johnston; brothers: Joe (Andrea) and Jeff (Kara) Johnston; stepsisters: Jill (John) Fox and Wendy (Rob) Perkins; nephews: Joseph, Michael, Declan; and niece, Amelie.
