In memory of
Diane Porter Sparks, NV November 14, 1933 - January 2, 2017 Beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother passed peacefully on January 2, 2017. Born to Lloyd and Marjorie Hill in California, Diane graduated from Shasta High School and married the love of her life, Marvin Porter, in Redding, California. They celebrated 54 years of marriage prior to Marvin's passing in 2007. Diane provided bookkeeping services for Marvin's businesses and together they owned and operated Porter's Golf Course in Redding. An excellent seamstress, Diane did alterations and was a sales clerk at several dress shops in Redding. Marvin and Diane relocated to Sparks, Nevada in 1978 and Diane worked in quality control at the JCPenney Distribution Center, retiring in 1998. She and Marvin enjoyed golfing, vacationing in Palm Springs and Furnace Creek, and mostly importantly, spending time with their grandchildren. Diane is survived by and greatly missed by daughters Julie Faulkner (John) and Lori Lehman (Charles). Also surviving her are her brother, Lee Hill (Jeanette), grandsons Robert (Jennifer), David, Jesse (Auli'i Kendrick) and Riley; great-grandchildren Maia, Jackson and Samuel. Diane also survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family. We would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Vista and A+ Hospice for their care and comfort. A special thanks to Karen Schmitt, Marvin's sister, for her love and friendship to mom. No services are planned per Diane's wishes. Please sign the guest book at http://obits.redding.com
