Travis, Mary Mary (Vancho) Travis, 92, a Stamford resident for 52 years, passed away February 8, 2017 at her home. She was the widow of Walter Travis who passed away in 2010. Born April 23, 1924 in Byram, CT, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Vancho. During World War II, Mary worked for McGuire Industries in the airplane factory as a welder. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked for a printing business in Glenbrook and as a personal child care provider for a number of families in Stamford. Mary was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church. Mary is survived by her three sons, Kenneth and Walter of Stamford and Donald of Southbury, CT; grandchildren Kevin Olsen and his wife Casey of Woodbury, CT, Kristin Golia and her husband Tony of Stamford, Jason Travis of Phoenixville, PA, Daniel Travis and his wife Erin of Stamford, CT, Jeffrey Travis of Brookline, MA, Justin Travis of New York City; and great grandchildren Abigail and Grady Olsen of Woodbury, CT. She was predeceased by her sisters Helen Genovese, Ann Pederson, Pauline Vancho, and her brothers John, Samuel, Paul and Joseph. The family would like to thank her caregivers Gladys and Dorothy, and nurses at Masonicare who provided outstanding care and guidance to Mary and our family.
