In memory of
Lois Blomstrand, 77, of Avon, died on January 6, 2017, at home after a brief illness. She was born on August 28, 1939, in Hartford to Ebbe and Ruth (Chester) Blomstrand. In her youth, she enjoyed athletics and was a good swimmer and skier. She also found pleasure in painting and sketching. Lois graduated from Canton High School in 1957. As an adult, she continued her education at Tunxis Community College, the University of Hartford, and at the University of Oxford, England. She traveled to Europe, Russia, Mexico, the Carribean, Canada, and throughout the U.S. Her lifelong love of literature and history gave her many hours of pleasure. Lois, by nature, was a warm, loving, and generous woman, and she gave unyielding support to three generations of her family. We all feel the loss of her seemingly endless love, warmth, and kindness. Lois is survived by her loving sisters and brother, Ebbe (Christine), Emily, and Kristin (Jim). She was predeceased by her dear younger sister, Jane. She leaves her loved and adored nephew and nieces, Ebbe-Carl (Anne), Julia (Kurt), and Elena; and her sweet and beloved grandnephews and grandnieces, Freja, Noah, Ebbe-Charles, Leah, and Cayden. She leaves a dear cousin Audrey Heller, and friends both new and old. In keeping with Lois' final wishes, there will be no services; following cremation, Lois will be taken by her family to a special place she chose during her lifetime. Lois was politically progressive, and financially conservative, throughout her life. If one wishes, memorial contributions can be made to the ACLU-CT, Greater Hartford Chapter, 765 Asylum Ave., Hartford, CT 06105 or to the Canton Library, 40 Dyer Ave., Canton, CT 06019. Lois' family would also like to thank Masonicare, Kat, Dina, Rona, and Dr. Rathmann for the kind and compassionate care of their dear sister. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center in Avon. To share a memory of Lois or to offer online condolences, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com .
