HELEN BUSCHEY, 88, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at Brookdale Senior Living, Fort Wayne, due to Alz heimer's. Born Jan. 1, 1929, in Bippus, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Willard John and Leona Urshel Anderson. Helen was a graduate of Bippus High School, studied interior design at Ray Vogue in Chicago, and earned her Bachelor's degree in English Communications from IPFW. She was the face of WANE-TV as a full-time receptionist for nearly 30 years, retiring in 2004. Helen supported animal rights and environmental issues, loved gardening and flowers, books, reading, walking, shopping, music, playing the piano, cooking, and baking. In 1985, she won 1st prize in the Johnny Appleseed Festival apple pie baking contest. Surviving are her children, Valerie (Catherine Knight) Buschey of Chicago, Ill., Brent Buschey and Lauren (Jeffrey) Widmann, both of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Clinton Jackson, Carrie (Brent) Svitak and Audra Widmann; and nephew, Richard (Mitchell Untch) Lancaster. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Bushey; daughter, Rene Buschey; and sister, Miriam Lancaster-Stieglitz. Service is 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery.
