William E. D'Huyvetters
William E. D'Huyvetters, 92, of Nazareth, PA, formerly of Palmer Township, PA was taken home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 13, 2017. He was born on October 17, 1924 in Paterson, NJ, the son of the late William and Mazie D'Huyvetters. After graduating from Easton Area High School in the class of 1942, William proudly served in the United States Army as a 4th Grd. Technician in the 282nd Port Co. William saw his first combat during WWII as a veteran of the D-Day invasion of Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944. Upon his honorable discharge he returned home to Easton, to marry the love of his life, the late Geraldine Voorhees to whom he was married for 62 years. He showed remarkable devotion to his family through his care for his mother as well as his wife during her decade long battle with Alzheimer's. He was employed by Binney & Smith and Victor Balata Belting Co. for 35 years as a technical inspector. William had a love for the great outdoors, he believed in the value of hard work, he was an optimist at heart and was a positive influence to everyone he came in contact with. William will be remembered as a Godly man who performed selfless acts of kindness to his country, his family and most recently, his friends at Moravian Hall Square. His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses of Moravian Hall Square for their kindness, love and compassionate care they gave to him. William's legacy lives on in his son, Brent D'Huyvetters, of Tucker, GA; his daughter, Elaine Young and her husband John, of Forks Township; his four grandchildren, Daniel Young and his wife Ashley, Julie Alsop and her husband Jeremy, Jonathan Young, and Jenna Monaco and her husband John; as well as three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Landon and Emma. Services will be held at 10am Friday in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton St., Wilson Borough. Call Friday 9-10am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.
