Funeral services for Emagene Jenkins, age 84, of Grenada, are at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada. Visitation is Saturday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at National Funeral Home in Grenada. Emagene died Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. She was born on March 16, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Charley P. Ward and Lilly Easley Ward of Calhoun County. Emagene was employed for 16 years by Pennaco Hosiery Mill as an inspector until her retirement. She also worked at Union Planters Bank. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she also taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Emagene was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Lilly Ward; her husband, Corbon Jenkins; and five brothers, J.C. Ward, C.P. Ward, Willie Ward, Winfred Ward, and L.B. Ward. She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Dodd and Rose Mary Smith, both of Grenada; two sons, Richard Allen Jenkins of Cleveland, Tennessee and Barry Douglas Jenkins of Etta, Mississippi; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren, Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers.
