In memory of
Bulah Ann "Boots" Carpenter, 92 of Glen Carbon passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. Bulah was born on January 18, 1924 in Mitchell, IL; a daughter to the late Joseph and Goldie (Hamilton) Hackethal. Bulah was an Executive Secretary for CPI Photo Finish in St. Louis. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon and enjoyed her days of crocheting, sewing and cooking. She loved to tend to her flower garden, traveling and playing cards with her friends. But most of all she loved to spend time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her kind heart and all the special times she shared with her family and friends. She is survived by and will be missed by her children; David Carpenter of Glen Carbon, Mark and (Suzan) Carpenter of Alton, IL, Keith Carpenter of Glen Carbon; her grandchildren, Joseph and (Stacey) Carpenter of St. Louis, Vanessa and (Chris) Basler of Highland, Christopher Carpenter and (Neala Arnold) of Davenport, IA, Ginette Carpenter and (Martin Carriel) of St. Louis, Nathan Carpenter of Maryville, IL; her great-granddaughter, Celina Mae Carpenter; her brothers, Pete and (Marge) Hackethal, Tom and (Marilyn) Hackethal, Clete and (Charlene) Hackethal; her sister, Trink and (George) Marshall. In addition to her parents, Bulah was preceded in death by her husband; Darvin A. Carpenter, whom she married on January 18, 1947; her brothers, Joseph, Leo and John Hackethal; her sisters, Leona Hackethal and Francis Buhr. Visitation was Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon. In celebration of her life, services will be held on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 155 North Main Street in Glen Carbon with Fr. Al Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials are suggested to St. John Bosco Children's Center in Belleville or the American Heart Association
