Betty Perdue Dean Springfield, TN Betty Perdue Dean, 84, of Springfield, died Wednesday January 11, 2017 at Springfield Heights. Funeral services were conducted Sunday January 15th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Smith and Tim Harris officiating. Interment followed in the Elmwood Cemetery with Clyde Dean, Mark Dean, David Dean, Henry Dean, Bruce Dean, Jesse Perdue, Will Dean, Andrew Dean, Chris Dean, Jon Dean, Ben Dean, and Cole Dean serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Shannon Biggs, Suzanne Jones, Brooke Rawls, Jessie Dean, Emily Dean, Caroline Dean, the employees of Robertson County Funeral Home, the staff of Springfield Heights, Bob Allen, Billy Mack Martin, Jackie Martin, Vickie Martin Penick, Ricky Martin, Steve Perdue, Cindy Ferguson, and Sara Perdue Rose. Mrs. Dean was born August 23, 1932 in Logan County, KY to the late Jesse and Daisy Davenport Perdue. She graduated from Adairville High School and then married Clyde Willis "C.W." Dean, Jr. She was the co-founder and owner of Dean Oil Company in 1959, and then of Robertson County Funeral Home in 1986. Mrs. Dean served as the Secretary/Treasurer of Robertson County Funeral Home. She also served as the Aftercare Director of the funeral home for many years until her health declined. Whenever someone crossed her mind that she felt might need to receive a special word of encouragement, then they received either a phone call or a special note in the mail from Ms. Betty. She had a great love for missions and was able to go on some mission trips to Jamaica. Mrs. Dean was a longtime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday Day School for many years, and she also worked in Vacation Bible School and the WMU. She had a special love for children and always wanted to make sure that they had every opportunity to know Jesus in their hearts. In her later years, she moved her membership to North Springfield Baptist Church. She was affectionally known as "Nanny" by her grandchildren and family. She always put others before herself and loved her family dearly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Clyde Willis "C.W." Dean, Jr., and by her sister: Bethel Perdue Martin. Mrs. Dean is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Clyde Willis and Scotty Dean, III of Springfield, Mark Taylor Dean of Springfield, David Perdue Dean of Springfield, Henry Sanford and Gay Dean of Springfield, and Jon Bruce Dean of Springfield, her brother: Jesse Perdue of Russellville, KY, grandchildren: Shannon Biggs, Suzanne (Mike) Jones, Will Dean, Brooke Rawls, Jonathan (Amanda) Dean, Benjamin (Diana) Dean, Andrew Dean, Christopher Dean, Jessie Dean, Cole Dean, Emily Dean, and Caroline Dean, seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Springfield Heights, and especially to Margaret Klukow and Jennifer Kraft. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Robertson County Scholarship Foundation for the C.W. and Betty Dean Family Scholarship.
