In memory of
Tufanio Tiffy Taralli, 94, of Framingham, Leominster and Haverhill died in Worcester on January 10, 2017. An accomplished musician of the accordion era he began his career at the age of 5 years as a student under Mr. Frank Gaviani of Boston and fashioned his playing technique after Charles Magnante a highly acclaimed accordionist of that era and later becoming an instructor for the Gaviani Accordio Studio. During that time he performed with the Gaviani Accordion Orchestra on Boston radio. The orchestra was dedicated to a variety of styles of music including classical, popular and ethnic folk and dance. Mr. Taralli received high press acclaim as well as from many accordion virtuosi for his improvising of Felix Mendel- sohns E minor Violin Concertos cadenza in which he conveyed to the audience the impression of the violinists boriolage, spiccato and chords across four strings. He was also the feature solo accordionist with the Gaviani Orchestera in a performance of the William Tell Overture at Jordan Hall in Boston about the same time period. He later moved on to organize his own music studios in Fitchburg and Leominster MA in 1954 using the moniker Taralli Accordion Studios. He retired from the industry in 1990. He graduated from Framingham High School in 1941 married in 1942 and enlisted in the US Army in February 1943 serving as rifleman with the 102nd Infan- try Regime- nt in the South Pacific and was discharged post war in 1945 as Sar- gent. He was bo- rn in Framingham to Salvatore Tarlli and Maria Concetta Cali on January 6, 1923 and is preceded in death by his wife Hilda Monta- nari, a brother James who was a WWII casualty, three sisters, Jane Mailhoit, Constance Chicarelli and Phyllis Cali. He is survived by two sons, James of Weymouth and Toreey and his wife Lauri of Baldwinville and a daughter Nina Foster and her husband Andrew of Spencer, MA. Two brothers, Sebastian and his wife Frances of Washington State and Joseph and his wife Terrence of Framingham. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Family and friends will honor and remember Tiffys life by gathering for visiting hours at the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham, on Friday, January 13th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning in St. Tarcisius Church, 562 Waverly St, Framingham at 10 oclock.
