GENERAL SETH JEFFERSON McKEE USAF, Ret.
General Seth Jefferson McKee USAF (Ret.), The highest-ranking survivor of D-Day, passed away in Scottsdale, AZ, on December 26, 2016, at the age of 100. General McKee and his wife, Sally Parshall McKee, were married over 75 years. McKee was born in 1916, in McGehee, Arkansas. He began his military career in 1935. During World War II, he flew 69 combat missions in the P-38 Lightning and is credited with destroying two enemy aircraft. In 1966, he took command of U.S. Forces Japan and Fifth Air Force and two years later, was appointed assistant vice chief of staff, USAF, in Washington, DC. In 1969, McKee received his fourth star and became commander in chief of NORAD and commander of U.S. Aerospace Defense Command. He retired in 1973. General McKee is survived by his wife, Sally Parshall McKee; their three sons, Seth J. McKee, Jr. (Virginia) of Kirkwood, MO, William B. McKee (Pendleton) of Scottsdale, AZ and Thomas J. McKee (Patricia) of Fairfax Station, VA; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Burial with Full Military Honors will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a time to be determined.
