Samuel Sparkman
Sparkman, Samuel H. Age 85; of Athens, TN; passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at his residence. A native of Hickory Valley, Tennessee, a resident of Waterford, Michigan for 43 years, and a resident of McMinn County for the past 27 years, he was the son of the late James Luther and Bessie Mae Roberts Sparkman. He was a member of Allen Memorial United Methodist Church where his greatest pleasure was to serve as a greeter. He worked and retired from General Motors and was preceded in death by nine siblings and his first wife Mary Wilson. He was a 32 degree and Life Member of the Masonic Lodge #60 in Clarkston Michigan. Survived by his Wife of 26 years, Mary Reichert Sparkman of Athens, TN; one daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and David West of Grand Blanc, MI; brother Jessie T. and Melba Sparkman of Davison, MI; sister, Daisy Vied of Millington, MI; two Grandchildren and spouse, Jason and Danielle West andMichael West. Special mention to Norma Jean Sartell of New Port Richey, Florida. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday January 14, 2017 at Allen Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charla Sherbakoff officiating. Mr Sparkman will be interred at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. A service there to be announce at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Allen Memorial United Methodist Church Sign Fund 800 Decatur Pike Athens, TN 37303. Laycock-Hobbs will be in charge of the arrangements.
