Georgia Lou Granberry Jackson Georgia Lou Granberry, 77, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 11, 2017. Visitation will be Saturday, January 14 at Christ United Methodist Church from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service in the sanctuary. Georgia was born on December 25, 1939 in Wesson, MS, to the late George Richmond Granberry, Jr., and Lou Ella Meadows Granberry. She graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1958 and USM in 1962 with a BS in Health and Physical Science Education and a minor in Secondary Education followed by a Master's of Science Degree in Guidance Counseling. Her professional career included Supervisor /Teacher at Kuhn Memorial Hospital in Vicksburg, MS, providing education for long term patients ages 6-21.; Resident Hall Counselor at Florida State University; Assistant Dean of Women's Housing at Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA ; Corrective Therapist in the Mississippi Deaf/Blind program at Ellisville State School, retiring in 1998, followed by several years with Pine Belt Mental Health as a Clinical Assistant/Supervisor. Georgia loved the Lord and served in many capacities in her church wherever she lived. At Franklin United Methodist Church in Laurel, Ms, she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and served on many boards and committees. Moving to Jackson after Katrina, she became an active member of Christ United Methodist Church making a host of new friends, while participating in the Joy Choir, Prayers and Squares, Suzanna Stitchers and served as coordinator of the church's blood drive endeavors through Mississippi Blood Services. She is survived by her sister, Mary Evelyn Ward and husband Roy of Jackson; brother, Cotton Granberry and wife Carol of Tampa, FL; sister, Elsie Davis and her husband Mike of Augusta, GA and 6 nieces and nephews and 7 great nieces and nephews who treasure her . She is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.
