In memory of
Joseph A. Steele
STEELE Joseph Anthony Steele departed this life suddenly on January 10, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Dianna S. Bostwick and loving father of Stacie A. Steele, Shannan J. Steele, and Justin N. Bostwick. He is also survived by his brother Louis (and Charlotte) Steele of Glen Allen, Virginia and many nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins. He was born on March 10, 1948 in Norristown, Pennsylvania to Joseph W. and Louise (nee Damiani) Steele. He and his brother grew up in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania. Upon graduating from Bishop Kendrick High School, Joe attended Temple University for three years before joining the United States Armed Forces during the Vietnam War where he served his country, receiving an honorable discharge. He also received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and was an Expert Marksman. Joe worked in the construction and heavy equipment industry for a number of years and prided himself in building his first family home from the ground up, for his then wife Susan Steele and his two lovely daughters. He left the construction trade and began working for Bell of Pennsylvania where he worked for 35 years recently retiring in 2012 from his job as a Splicing Technician from the company of Verizon as it is now known. During his lifetime Joe had many interests from playing football in his youth to then becoming an avid golfer and terrific ballroom dance partner. He was dedicated to daily workouts trying very hard to become the best golfer he could be. His love of sports, golf, and the dance floor, was second only to his love for his beloved wife Dianna and his beautiful daughters and step son. Joe and Dianna were fortunate to enjoy 13 years together during which time they blended their families enjoying many vacations together at the Jersey shore. Joe was a member of the Edgmont Country Club and the Hersheys Mill Country Club where he enjoyed his sport alongside his friends. To Joe it didn't matter if you were young or old, expert or non-expert, as long as he was on the golf course and sharing his love of the game. Joe had a gift for making people laugh and where ever he went, he made friends easily. With just a handshake he could make you feel the warmth of his big heart. Joe will be missed by his family and many friends. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing on Monday, 6-8 PM and Tuesday, 10-10:45 AM at the Danjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008. Funeral Service at 11 AM in the Main Chapel. Interment Arlington Cemetery. Donations in his memory to the Charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
