GEORGE RUSSELL MOUWDY
Mouwdy, George Russell Feb. 10, 1932 - Jan. 1, 2017 Colonel George Russell Mouwdy was born in San Pedro, California, with his immediate family by his side he passed away on Sunday Jan. 1, 2017 at 84 years old. To begin what would be over a 40 year career in the USAF in which he served both active duty and the AF Reserves. A husband and father of two, George was working full time at March AF Base while pursuing higher education at Long Beach State University graduating with a BA in Business. He was assigned as: Deputy Commander of Maintenance for the 452 Air Refueling Wing eventually being promoted as a Full Bird Colonel. His Military awards, achievements and honors, to name a few: The Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korea, Vietnam & Persian Gulf Service Medals, as well as, over his career he continued to receive Superior Outstanding Performance Awards due to his outstanding Leadership, an accomplishment of which every man and woman in the 452 can be proud. He wrote: "A wise man - he was probably a maintenance officer - once said: A Whole is no better than the Sum of its parts". He is survived by his 2 daughters: Debbie Poindexter and Lori Mansfield; son in law, Bill; grandson, Michael; his nephew, Curtis Mouwdy Jr.; and his brother-in-law, Mike Meils and family . George and his beloved wife Elaine celebrated their 56 years of marriage before her death. He will be missed & remembered by his family and many friends as being a proud American dedicating his life to his family, friends and his country. He will receive Full Military Honors at his memorial service @ Fairhaven with graveside services: Sunday Jan. 15, 2017 @ 1PM, 1702 Fairhaven Ave, Santa Ana CA 92705 714-633-1442.
