Antonio Maceo Bonner
Rev. Antonio Maceo Bonner COLUMBIA - Rev. Antonio Maceo Bonner was born in Columbia, SC, on January 31, 1935, along with his twin sister, Antoinette Greene, to the late Joel and Blanche Bonner. He passed away on January 8, 2017, in Palmetto Health Richland. He received his early education from Richland County Public Schools and went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies from Allen University and also attended seminary courses at Allen University, Morris College and Lutheran Theological Seminary. He retired from the S.C. Department of Revenue and Taxation. For 50 wonderful years, he was married to (the former) Willean Wooden. In 1954, Rev. Bonner was ordained at Sidney Park C.M.E. Church. Throughout his ministerial career, he pastored in the Lancaster and Columbia A.M.E. districts, retiring from Willow Grove A.M.E. Church in Horatio, SC, after 55 years of dedicated service. He was an active member of Brown Chapel A.M.E until his death. He is survived by his son, Mario (Vanetta); grandchildren, Miara and Marc Anthony; brothers, Joel H. (Pearl) and Franklin (Carolyn), Laurens, SC, and sisters, Louise and Antoinette; and many other family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Willean; brothers: William, Robert and Alexander; and sisters: Blanche, Josephine and Beatrice. The homegoing service will be held Friday, January 13, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at Brown Chapel AME Church, 808 Barnes Street, Columbia, with burial in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
