Arthur James Shoto Sr.
Arthur James Shoto, Sr., age 82 of Milton, FL passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017. He was born in Pearl, Mississippi, October 31, 1934 to Will Shoto and Elvira Williams Shoto. Arthur was united in holy matrimony to Annie Gladys Hare Shoto, October 9, 1975. They were married for a total of 41 years. Mr. Shoto retired 20 years from the U.S. Navy. He distinguished himself by meritorious service as a Third Class Petty Officer, Culinary Specialist. During his tenure, he dedicated his unselfish service and participated in the Korean War on the USS Kretchmer Naval Ship. He also worked at Gulf Breeze Middle School for about 10 years. Arthur's pastime included cooking, fishing, watching wrestling, baseball and traveling back and forth to Mississippi to visit family and friends. He served as the Superintendent of Sunday School, Deacon, and sang in the choir at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church until he became ill. He loved singing the following gospel songs: "How Far Is Heaven" and "Lord Make A Way Some How." Mr. Shoto leave to mourn his passing memory and cherish his memory to his beautiful wife, Annie Gladys Shoto and a sister, Lizzie Mae Cox of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, His six children: Jacob Hill, Jr. (Terri) of Madison, Alabama, Veronica Crute (Anthony) of Harvest, Alabama, Norman Hill (Samanthia) of Newnan, Georgia, Michael Shoto (Nicole) of Jacksonville, Florida, Arthur James Shoto, Jr. of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Angel Pubill (Adrian) of Milton, Florida; as well as 21 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special friends: John Williams, Willie Lewis and Maxwell Hillard. Five brothers, whom he loved dearly preceded him in death: Ernest Shoto, Will Henry Shoto, Tommie Lee Shoto, Elmore Shoto, and Lemmie Shoto. Sr. and one son, Kevin Jamerson Shoto. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 12:00pm at Trahan Family Funeral Home, Milton, Florida with Reverend James Manning officiating. Visitation is schedule from 10:00am-12:00pm. All are welcome to attend and join the family in celebrating his life.
