Memorial services for Duwayne Gandy, age 81 of Hideaway, are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, January 14, 2017 in the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale with Bro. Billy Wayne Meadows officiating. Mr. Gandy passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at a nursing facility in Tyler. He was born in Grosvenor, Texas on December 4, 1935 to the late Edward Macklin and Alma Mae (Eddington) Gandy and served in the United States Army. Mr. Gandy served as a side judge for the National Football League from 1981-1989, the World League in 1990 and the Arena Football League from 1991 until his retirement in 2001. He ran the field and made calls at Cowboys games, NFC, and AFC Playoff games and even the Pro Bowl. Mr. Gandy worked in sales for Educational Publishing for over 40 years. He was a member of the Hideaway Lake Community Church, the Hideaway Lake Kiwanis Club where he served as the Local President and his Division and District as a Lt. Governor in the Texas-Oklahoma Kiwanis District, and was an avid golfer. He is preceded in death by his sister, Wynelle Meadows. Mr. Gandy is survived by his wife, Emorie Gandy of Hideaway; son, Jeff and his wife Melody Gandy of Ft. Worth; daughters, Jill and her husband Davey Smith; Julie Moon of Hideaway; Romy Smith of Nacogdoches; Amy Suarez of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; sister, Blondie Starkes of Round Rock; 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren. There will be a reception following the service from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Old Hideaway Lodge, 302 Hideaway Lane Central, Hideaway, Texas, 75771.
