Barbara Claire Bauchman (England) Stevenson
May 10, 1926 - January 4, 2017 Barbara Claire England Bauchman Stevenson, age 90 of Seguin, passed away on January 4, 2017. Barbara was born on May 10, 1926 in Casper, Wyoming to John Kenton England and Aileen DeKay Cooksey England. At the age of one her family moved to the Rio Grande Valley and helped establish the Rio Grande Valley Gas Company. Barbara graduated from Harlingen High School and attended Southern Methodist University. While at SMU she met and married John Allen Bauchman, Sr. of Seguin, Texas on August 31, 1946. She joined First Presbyterian Church in Seguin in 1961 where she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, president of the Women of the Church and Elder. She was also a board member of the United Way Fund, membership chairman of the Guadalupe County Republican Women, board member of the Seguin Independent School District, Tejas Literary Club, Parent Education of Sunshine Cottage in San Antonio, and Central Institute for the Deaf, St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her first husband John Allen Bauchman; her grandson Todd Bauchman; her parents; her step-mother Virginia England, and her brother Jack England. Survivors include her husband Thomas Warren Stevenson, Jr. of Seguin, formerly of Brownsville, Texas and Charleston, West Virginia; her children, Barbara Ann Ruben and husband Joe Lees, Jan Meadows and husband Gib, Susan Newburn, John Allen Bauchman, Jr. and wife Beth; step-children, Rick Bauchman and wife Galen, Thomas Stevenson III and wife Cathi, Robert Stevenson and wife Susan, Anne Moccia and husband Dave, and Betsy Snyder and husband Dan. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Other family members include half-sisters Pam Dever and husband Dan, and Janet Steves; half-brother Michael England and wife Janet; sister-in-law, Beverly England; brothers-in-law, Bob Stevenson and wife Alicia, and Bill Stevenson. Barbara will be remembered for her ever present smile and grace, her love of life, her love of her family, and her abiding faith. She was dearly loved and adored by her family and many friends. The family wishes to thank Consuelo Rodriguez, Emma Kerns, Yvonne Martinez, Araceli Salazar, Mary Chacon, Angie Stuart, Olivia Gonzalez, Lola and Alex Rodriguez, and the staff of Guadalupe Regional Hospice for their devotion and loving care of her. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dave Diercksen officiating.
