David P. Gillis
DAVID P. GILLIS 1952 - 2017 NORWICH– David P. Gillis, 64, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 8th. He was born in Norwich, CT on Feb. 9, 1952 to the late Edward and Gloria (Pedace) Gillis. After graduating from Norwich Free Academy, David went on to college and obtained his Master's Degree of Science. David worked at various jobs finding his passion in the security industry, most recently working for Murphy Security until his passing. He loved music and played the trumpet and coronet in local bands and sang in the St. Patrick Choir and the Cecilia Chorus for a time as well. He was active in the local Musician's Union and enjoyed life. He also invented a linear measuring apparatus which was patented in 1988. He is survived by his siblings Edward F. Gillis, Steven Gillis, and Pattie Kulasa, and nieces Jennifer and Kimberly Pierpont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 14th at 10 am at the Cathedral of St. Patrick, 213 Broadway Norwich, CT meeting directly at the church. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Norwich. Calling Hours will be held Friday evening, Jan. 13th from 5-7pm at the Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave. Norwich, CT.
