In memory of
Jeanne Esther Dogan
Dogan, Jeanne Esther Dogan, Mrs. Jeanne Esther, 74, passed away at her Wetumpka home surrounded by her close family on Sunday, January 8, 2017, after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer. Born in Woonsocket, RI, on Easter, April 5, 1942, to Anita and Leonard Houle, she graduated from St. Clare High School, attended the University of Rhode Island, and worked in banking until she got married and had her first child in New Jersey in 1966. She moved back to RI in 1967, then to Australia in 1982, Kentucky in 1988 following her husband's career at Texas Instruments. Jeanne and Wayne retired in 1999 to Alabama to join all their children there. Mrs. Dogan is survived by her husband, Wayne Dogan; children, Jeff (Theresa Carlos) Dogan, Pamela (Michael) Purvis, and Lorrie Dogan; grandchildren, Marissa Dogan, Mitchell Dogan and Kaelie Peterson, and one sister, Lorraine Houle. Jeanne was kind, warm, friendly to everyone, and a dedicated, supportive mother and wife. An accomplished pianist, she loved playing to relax or entertain. Outgoing by nature and with a great sense of style, she enjoyed selling Mary Kay Cosmetics in both RI and South Australia. Marissa wrote of her grandma that "cancer took so much out of you, but it did not take your humor, your wit, your love and your soul." She will be sorely missed. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bede Catholic Church in Montgomery, on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Father Zachary Greenwell officiating. The family will receive friends at Gassett Funeral Home in Wetumpka, on Thursday from 6-8 p.m., followed by a Rosary service at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the "Breast Cancer Research Foundation" at www.bcrfcure.org .
