It is with heart-filled sorrow to announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Briggs Dec. 27. Bob was born in Brighton on March 15, 1925, to Raymond and Doris Briggs. In addition to his wife, survivors include his four children, Gilda, Ronald, Keith and Kevin; three grandchildren, Andrea, Tiara and Ethan; and step-grandchildren. His two sisters, Chloe and Jeannie; and his brother, Paul, preceded him in death. Robert was a lifelong resident of the Brighton area. Bob graduated from Brighton High School in 1943. He was a running back during the BHS state football championship in 1942. After graduating, Bob was drafted into the U.S. Army during WWII. He saw action during WWII in the South Pacific, Philippines and New Guinea. He was in the occupational force in Japan and received the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in combat. After the war, he attended the University of Denver and received a degree in business administration. Bob and Dorothy met in 1946 and married in 1948 at the Brighton United Methodist Church. Bob and Dorothy were married for 68 years. Bob was the executive director for the Adams County office of the U.S. Department of Agricultural Administration from 1948 until he retired in 1985. After retirement, Bob enjoyed woodworking, playing the organ, traveling and home projects. A memorial service was Jan. 4 at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home in Brighton, which handled the arrangements.
