Robert W. Stewart
Robert W. Stewart, 68, of Newington, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017, in New Britain. He was the beloved husband of Jane (Accornero) Stewart. Born on December 9, 1948, Bob was the son of the late Alfred and Ruth (Wadsworth) Stewart. Bob served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve for six years. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education, as well as his Sixth-Year Certificate in Administration from Central Connecticut State University. He enjoyed a long career in teaching, and prior to his retirement he was employed as an English Teacher for the Middle School of Plainville. His retirement job was at A Better CT Driving School, helping others to reinstate their driving privileges. An avid golfer, Bob was a former member of the Indian Hill Country Club in Newington. In his leisure time he enjoyed kayaking, cooking and cheering on his beloved Boston Red Sox. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, along with his wife Jane, Bob is survived by his children, Jessica L. Brown and her husband Robert, and Thomas R. Stewart and his wife Amanda, all of Berlin, and Meghan E. Stewart of Boston, MA; his cherished grandchildren, Ryan Brown, and Reagan and Morgan Stewart. He also leaves his sister, Judith E. Stewart and her husband John Woodley of Essex Junction, VT, father-in-law Mario Accornero, brothers-in law and sisters-in-law Louis Accornero, Susan Lemke, Ann and Dan Posuniak, and Laura Didden, all of Glastonbury, as well as several nieces and nephews. His family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of the CCU and Hospice Care at the Hospital of Central Connecticut. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Bob's family on Thursday evening, January 12, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday morning, January 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Newington Memorial Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest privately.
