JOHN R. "JACK" DONOVAN, , 86, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, in Fort Wayne. He was passionate about family, his faith, friends, golf, and his Purdue Boiler makers. Born in Bedford, Ind., Jack was a 1948 graduate of Central Catholic High School, he then completed his Bachelor's degree from Purdue University. He was the proud founder, owner, and operator of Donovan Engineering for 27 years. Jack was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He was a member of the Purdue Club of Fort Wayne, the Fort Wayne Friars, in 1995, he was a recipient of the Diamond "P" at Purdue for his distinguished support to the John Purdue Club. Jack also proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mary Helen Donovan of Fort Wayne; children, Mike Donovan of Fort Wayne, Margaret Donovan of Seattle, Wash., Jeanette Donovan of Fort Wayne, Mary Kay Donovan of Fort Wayne, and Rick (Sabrina) Donovan of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Alixandria (Steve) Pelych and Madelyn and Campbell Donovan; great-granddaughter, Gracelyn Pelych; sister, Sue (Don) Mossburg of Fort Wayne; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Louise Donovan; brother, David Donovan; and sister, Marjorie L. Miller. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
