Joan Ewan Carroll AGE: 92 • Former Longtime Haddonfield and Ocean City Resident Died peacefully on Sunday, January 8, 2017 in Clifton Park, NY. She was the beloved wife of the late Philip James Carroll Sr. of Gardner MA. Joan was born in Phoenixville, PA to the late Robert Joseph Ewan and Helen (Ward) Ewan. She attended St. Mary's Academy in Philadelphia, Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and Rutgers University in Camden NJ where she received her BA in Fine Arts. Joan was the youngest surviving child of 8 and a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She is survived by four children, Nancy Carroll McDonough (Michael William) of Clifton Park NY, Lisa Carroll Archambault (Darius) of West Chester PA, , Philip James Carroll Jr. (Jackie Clapp) of Collingwood NJ, and Marcia Carroll Burzair (Edward) of Rockwall TX; Loving Grandmother of Michael William McDonough Jr. (Meredith McNulty), Elizabeth McDonough, Philip James Carroll III, Jennifer Carroll Fuson (Randy), Isabella Burzair, and treasured great grandmother of Michael (Mikey), Ava and Nola McDonough. She was blessed with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was an accomplished artist. She apprenticed with John Giannotti from Haddonfield, working with him on the Walt Whitman monument in Camden and the Haddonfield Dinosaur. Additionally, Joan had been a Girl Scouts of America Troop Leader, Past PTA President of Christ the King Regional School and she inaugurated the Seniors Group at St. Rose of Lima RC Church. She loved to sing, dance, drive and all things French! Mrs. Carroll's family will receive friends on Friday Evening, Jan. 13th, 6-8 PM at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Ave., Haddonfield, NJ. All are invited to her Mass of Christian Burial on Sat., Jan. 14th, 11 AM, at Christ the King RC Church, 200 Windsor Ave., Haddonfield, NJ. Interment, Holy Sepulcher Cem., Phila., PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Mrs. Carroll may be made to: Carmelite Nuns of Philadelphia, 1400 66th Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa 19126
