Rev. Dr. Robert Sterling Ledbetter
The Reverend Dr. Robert Sterling Ledbetter, faithful husband, father, grandfather and pastor, passed away peacefully January 8, 2017 at his home in Covington, La., at the age of 84. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Julia Kelly Ledbetter of Birmingham, England, and by his three children, Jane Triola (Gary) of Pearl River, La., Andrew Glenn Ledbetter of Young Harris, Ga; and Ann Boushie (Dennis) of Abita Springs, La. He is the grandfather of Jenni Triola Abramowicz (Adam) of Pearl River, La., Gary Benjamin Triola of New Orleans, La., Eleanor Jane Boushie and Georgia Ann Boushie of Abita Springs, La., and the great-grandfather of Zoe Doucet Abramowicz. He is preceded in death by his eldest son, David Sterling Ledbetter, and by his parents, Glenn and Rachel Ledbetter. Dr. Ledbetter was a retired minister in the Presbyterian Church, USA, where he served the Lord with grace, gentleness and wisdom for well over fifty years, including at Metairie Ridge Presbyterian Church. After retiring, Dr. Ledbetter served as interim pastor in a number of churches and upon returning to Louisiana preached on many occasions at both Northminster Presbyterian Church in Pearl River, and at Covington Presbyterian Church in Covington. A native of Gainesville, Georgia, Dr. Ledbetter was a graduate of Erskine College and Union Theological Seminary. He especially enjoyed traveling with his wife, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Metairie Ridge Presbyterian Church, Codifer at Phosphor, in Metairie.
