In memory of
Miele, Sara Sara Miele, 80, of White Plains, NY, peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord on January 9, 2017. She was born September 30, 1936, in Laguardia dei Lombardi (Avellino), Italy, to the late Rocco and Alberina (Vigliotti) DiPietro. A strong woman of great faith, Sara came to the United States at age 19 and worked hard all of her days to provide a good life for her loved ones. A self-educated businesswoman, she co-owned and operated Miele's Pizzeria and Luncheonette in Ocean City, MD; was business manager of Miele Landscaping in White Plains, and invested wisely in real estate. Sara also worked as a crossing guard for 35 years for the City of White Plains, and was a lifelong member of Westchester Christian Worship Center, where she served faithfully in many ministries. She was especially valued by family and friends for her wise counsel and compassionate heart. For 60 years she was the loving wife of Gerardo Miele, who survives her. Sara was the mother of Anna (Larry) King, of Doylestown, PA; Rosa Miele of White Plains; and Geraldina (Scott) Brogan, also of White Plains; and the proud grandmother of Peter King, Austin King and Kayla Brogan, all of whom survive her. She is predeceased by her parents and by her brothers Elio, Isaiah and Samuele DiPietro, and is survived by brothers David (Connie) and Abel (Gloria) DiPietro, sisters Esther Grande, Maria (Emil) Giliotti, Anna (Tom) Roode and Francesca (Liam) Connell; sister-in-law Barbara DiPietro; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will take place Wednesday 5-9PM at the funeral home with a 10:00AM service Thursday at Westchester Christian Worship Center. Entombment at Ferncliff Cemetery to follow.
