In memory of
KUPELIAN SARKIS a resident of the Detroit area since 1950, passed away on January 8. He was 95. Beloved husband of the late Lucy, he came to the United States from Adana, Turkey, where he was born on May 2, 1921, and later Athens, Greece, before being relocated to a displaced persons camp in Stuttgart, Germany, after the war. He worked as a tool and die maker at Cadillac's Fleetwood plant for 30 years and was an avid supporter of the Red Wings and Tigers. His son, Vartan was a sports writer and columnist at The Detroit News for 38 years, and his son, Peter, is a Birmingham attorney with Clark Hill. Sarkis leaves behind daughters-in-law Betty (Vartan) and Kathy (Peter) Kupelian, and three grandchildren - Lisa Anahid, Lauren Lucie and Pierce Benjamin. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. Prayer Service, Tuesday January 10, at St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church, 19300 Ford Rd. in Dearborn. Funeral is Wednesday January 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Church. Burial is at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donation in Mr. Kupelian's memory are to St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church.
